Wise bookkeeping, every currency in one place

Connect your Wise account with a read-only token. Billfetch finds each currency balance, brings in new transactions and matches them to your invoices and payouts.

What Billfetch collects from Wise

When you connect, Billfetch finds your Wise business profile and each of its currency balances. Each balance becomes an account in Billfetch, so your GBP, EUR and USD money is tracked separately, the way Wise shows it.

From then on, transactions on those balances come in as bank lines: money in, money out, with the counterparty and description Wise provides. Conversions between your own balances keep both legs, for example the GBP that left and the EUR that arrived.

Bank lines are the backbone of your month in Billfetch:

  • Invoices and receipts are matched to payments. A supplier invoice collected from your inbox is matched to the Wise payment that settled it.
  • Payouts are explained. Deposits from Etsy, eBay, Shopify, Stripe or PayPal are matched to the payout records from those connections.
  • The missing list stays honest. A Wise payment with no invoice shows up as missing, so you can find the document or record why there isn’t one.

Earlier months: upload a Wise CSV

For UK and EU accounts, Wise only shares transactions from the day you connect. If you start partway through the year, download a CSV statement from Wise for the earlier months and upload it on your Wise card with Earlier months: upload CSV. Billfetch recognises the Wise format and maps the columns for you.

Each Wise transaction carries a Wise ID. Billfetch uses that ID with the currency to spot the same transaction wherever it comes from, so a statement that overlaps the live connection doesn’t create duplicates. Before importing, the preview tells you how many rows are new and how many were already imported.

How to connect Wise

  1. In Wise, open Settings → API tokens and create a read-only token.
  2. In Billfetch, open Sources, select Add connection and choose Wise.
  3. Paste the token and select Connect Wise.

Billfetch checks the token with a test call, finds your balances and stores the token encrypted. If you replace the token later, use Reconnect on the card.

What it doesn’t do

  • It can’t move money, make payments or change anything in Wise.
  • It can’t fetch transactions from before you connected; use a CSV statement for those.
  • It doesn’t send a bank feed to your accounting software. Your records go to your accountant in the accountant package, or to FreeAgent and QuickBooks as bills.
  • It doesn’t submit anything to HMRC.

Frequently asked questions

Can Billfetch move money from my Wise account?

No. You create a read-only token in Wise. It lets Billfetch see balances and transactions, and nothing else.

Why can't the connection fetch my earlier transactions?

For UK and EU accounts, Wise doesn't share transactions from before you connected. It's a Wise rule, not a Billfetch setting. Upload a Wise CSV statement for those months.

Will a CSV and the live connection create duplicates?

No. Every Wise transaction has its own Wise ID, and Billfetch uses it with the currency to recognise the transaction wherever it comes from. Overlapping statements are safe.

I have balances in GBP, EUR and USD. How does that work?

Each currency balance becomes its own account in Billfetch, assigned to your business. Conversions between balances keep both sides, so neither currency is out of step.
