Set up Billfetch in 10 minutes

Create your account, add your business, connect a bank and forward your first invoice. · 4 min read

Billfetch works best once it can see two things: the money leaving your accounts, and the invoices and receipts that explain it. This guide gets both flowing.

1. Create your account

There is no password to choose. You sign in with a code sent to your email.

  1. Go to app.billfetch.app.
  2. Enter your email address and select Send code.
  3. We email you a 6-digit code. Enter it and select Continue.

If the address is new to Billfetch, the code creates your account.

2. Add your business

The first screen asks you to Create your first business. A business is a company or sole trader you keep the books for. You can add more later.

  1. If you’re a UK limited company, you can search for it under Find your company at Companies House (optional). This fills in the name for you.
  2. Check the Name, Country and Base currency.
  3. Optionally answer What does the business do? (products, services or both). Billfetch uses this to order the list of sources it shows you.
  4. Select Create business.

3. Connect a bank

Billfetch finds missing invoices by comparing payments with documents, so it needs at least one bank or payment account. Until you connect one, This month tells you there’s no bank data yet.

  1. Open Sources and select Add connection.
  2. Choose your bank or payment provider (for example Wise, Starling, Revolut Business, Stripe or PayPal) and follow the steps on screen.
  3. If your bank isn’t listed, choose Bank statement (CSV) and upload a statement instead.

If you only have one business, new sources are assigned to it automatically. With more than one, assign each source to its business from the source’s card or the Board tab.

4. Send your first invoice

The quickest way to start collecting documents is your private forwarding address.

  1. In Sources, select Add connection and choose Billfetch forwarding address.
  2. Select Create my forwarding address and then Copy.
  3. Forward an invoice email to that address.

You can also select Add document at the top of any page to upload a PDF or photo, or simply drag files onto the window.

5. Approve what Billfetch found

Each new document is read and given a suggested supplier, amount and category. Go to This month, where it appears under Awaiting approval. Select Review (or Start quick review to go through them one after another), check the details and select Approve.

From then on, This month is your to-do list: documents to approve, payments with no invoice, and anything else that needs you. When it’s clear, go to Closing to prepare the package for your accountant.

Tip: When you approve the same supplier more than once, Billfetch offers to make a rule so the next one is classified for you.
